Highland Grog

Bagpipes and Highlanders

You can't always judge a book by its cover is what we were taught. So when we came across a bag pipping Highlander on a coffee bag it had us intrigued. One of us has a plaid addiction problem and wanted it just because well there's plaid on the bag while the other was curious. So we grabbed this in a Bone's Coffee sample pack. First off if you are not familiar with grog its a lovely rum based drink that was first consumed by the Royal Navy It's mainly made up of hot water and rum with other additives to help sailors supplement with vitamins to fight things such as Scurvy. It can also have butterscotch or caramel flavors added to it but there are many different versions. Enough with the history though lets talk about the coffee! For starters this coffee just from the smell is amazing. This is a medium roast that is perfect for those Monday morning kickoff meetings. While the smell is good, the taste is right there with it. We tried this sans sugar and cream to find it was great just as it is. If you are looking to add anything we recommend you stick with the flavors of the coffee if your going to add creamer at all. We used a caramel creamer and it was amazing but we prefer it either way. So if you are looking to bring out your inner Highlander this is just for you.
