Emporium House Blend

Cuvee Coffee

We're suckers for a good old house blend of coffee. You can never have too many house blends in our opinion. The Emporium House Blend from Cuvee Coffee in Austin, Texas is a pretty awesome House Blend. It's nothing fancy with a drinkable daily brew that goes with pretty much any coffee creamer. What we did find fun was the bag instructs you to smell the roast (with instructions) and it literally smells like toast (good warm toast we should add). The brew is described as having toasty, malty, black tea notes and we couldn't agree more. The beans used for the blend are a bit vague as they claim to vary from season to season based on availability.

The bags have the roast dates on the bottom for those wondering just how fresh bag is. We did notice the lack of organic free trade stamps and went digging as we're interested in the practices of where the beans we drink come from. Cuvee's approach was more traditionally based on knowing their suppliers and the practices they use. Trusting the farmers through their direct trade model and not putting stress on a label that comes with financial burden of obtaining the certification of organic is more important. Which in a world where small businesses are struggling at times to compete we can get behind. For a roast that blends smooth it certainly hits bold.
