Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Barrel

Coopers Cask Coffee

There's memes about it, clocks designed around it and a fine line when switching from coffee to wine, especially during a pandemic with being stuck inside 24/7. So how about a coffee combining the two, aged in wine barrels? Sounds a little too good to be true, but we assure you this coffee is the real deal. Coopers Cask Coffee which hails from New England are gourmet coffee roasters that are taking whiskey, rum, wine and bourbon barrels, then aging coffee in them. We're huge wine, whiskey and bourbon fans so this coffee was something we had to taste. Stressing this and can't say this enough, that we're here for it and already ready to order more.

We first started with a testing sample from their wine roasts as our interest was peaked by the promise of coffee aged in any type of alcohol barrels. We figured wine was an easy starting point. Each sample does come in four forms whole bean, french press, espresso, and drip. We decided to go with whole bean to have a choice in how we ground it up and to get maximum freshness. Grinding this roast the aroma of wine and coffee perfume the air in a delicious way that had us excited to brew it immediately. We chose to grind this roast at a course setting for our french press. If you're curious on how we brew our french press coffee please see our post for The French Press. As coffee addicts we are huge about the smell of coffee but grinding and then brewing this roast was another level of a coffee/wine aroma you need to experience. By the time we got to pouring a cup and actually tasting this coffee we knew it was not your average cup of joe. The flavors as noted from Cooper's Cask Coffee's site for the Cabernet Sauvignon are just as described "dark fruited notes and chocolate hazelnut with a toasted oak finish". It's complex with a honeyed process that imparts sweet flavor, in other words it's out of this world good. In a world of tech and impossible feats we now are gifted with incredible wine coffee that just is good as is no sugar, cream or milk needed. What even tops this off (as if you could) the beans are grade 1 which score high in profile taste (90+ pts for you coffee snobs out there.) This truly is a gourmet coffee that we'll be enjoying in our late work hours that is work the barrel aged wait.
